Voice Lessons via Webcam?

Written by  //   //  Online Singing Lesson  //  18 Comments

Need voice lessons, but don’t know who to take from in your area? Or, perhaps you were like me and had taken from many different people, but never found exactly what you were looking for. There are vocal coaches out there that can drastically make a difference in your voice, even if you’re already really good (I’ve been a professional singer since the age of 15 and I’m still learning!).

Sadly though, many people never find those teachers. Why? Well, frankly, it’s because if they’re that great, they’re probably teaching in a city where they can pull top dollar for their skills. Nashville, aka Music City, is certainly one of those cities and believe me, there are some great instructors there!

I have worked with many instructors in the Nashville area. Heck, I’ve even toyed with the idea of moving there myself. But, in the mean time I’ve put together a little informative site highlighting the Nashville Vocal Coaches I’d recommend. Each of the handful of instructors listed on this site I back whole heartedly, and each of them make themselves available to the world through webcam lessons.

View the instructors I suggested that teach Voice Lessons in Nashville. As a side note, these instructors are a little pricey, but they can accomplish in just a handful of lessons what it takes other teachers months or years to do. Furthermore, I find it important to state that I receive no compensation from these coaches for promoting them, so trust that they are legit and this isn’t someone trying to hustle you.

Of course, if you don’t have a $100/hr+ budget for lessons, I also fill the rare dead space in my schedule with webcam students. My lessons run $75/hr, but I also offer a rate of $250/month for 1 hour a week to consistent students. If you’re interested, simply post a comment to this article and I’ll get back with ya!

Well, I hope that you guys get the opportunity to work and grow with some of these phenomenal instructors.

Happy Singing!

  1. Hi Ken,
I am a voice teacher / performer in Los Angeles. I am hoping you may have a moment to give me advice about web cams. I’m looking to expand into web cam lessons. Do you recommend a certain camera? Is there a way to bypass the built in camera-mic and use a high quality audio interface? Thanks so much, and please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. I’ve been teaching for 12 years in S.F. and L.A.

    • I am so sorry this reply has been so late, if you are still wondering then I suggest teaching only students who you have had pervious exposure to or that already know the scales you are used to playing. Because of the varying internet connection there is a 3-4 delay from webcam to webcam so it can get tedious. As far as a mic, it should be a simple USB plug-in that can allow you to bypass the camera mic. Hope this helps and sorry it was so long overdue.

hey i have been training for months but iv damaged my voice because i always have sore throat if i speak or sing and i dont push my voice i let everything out effortlessly but my voice just seems to not work and i feel i cant be helped but i want this too much to quit i train everday for 4 hours but i have got no improvement i want to sing pop and rnb and if you can help then i will have no problem paying but i really need help so just get back to me and thanks for listening

    • sorry it’s been so long, I’ve had a lot of projects come my way. I have a new website askavocalcoach.com and there’s an article that I think you might be interested in, http://www.askavocalcoach.com/?p=97, this is also a place that you can ask specific questions if you have any. If you have a sore throat then instead of pushing through it, you need to take a break and let it heal. It’ll only get worse. Be careful with sore throats, they can be a sign of serious vocal damage. Hope all is well!

Thanks for the articles that you post on here. I live in the Nashville area, and my dad is trying to help me find a vocal coach. If you have any suggestions let me know please. :) We don’t have a lot of money, but I’m willing to give up advanced choir at my school if I have to. Thanks!

Nashville has some GREAT coaches. I have a couple of mentors out there actually, but unfortunately the teachers that are really good tend to come with a higher price tag. I would say though that one lesson with these coaches would probably be worth 4 or 5 with other teachers I’ve worked with easy. If you’re interested, I’d suggest anyone at Brett Manning’s Studio (www.BrettManningStudios.com) or Rachel Rains (www.RachelRainsVocalStudio.com). Both places can be somewhat pricey, but they are excellent.

    Best of luck to ya!!!

Hello, Mr Taylor. My name is Philip Royce and I was wondering if you still did the Webcam vocal coaching? I posted on your askavocalcoach but didn’t get a reply. I’m a 14 year old aspiring metalcore vocalist/songwriter, and my lyrics and good and all that neat stuff, my vocals are terrible. Please reply if you can, Thanks.

At the moment I do not currently offer webcam lessons but plan to, most likely by the end of the year. If you join the facebook page facebook.com/singingtips I will post there when I start to offer those lessons. Thanks for the question!
