Ken Taylor
Vocal Coach
Ken is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. After receiving a standing ovation at age 11, he was hooked on singing. Since then, he has performed all over the world singing various styles of music. His journeys have taken him from the west coast in LA and San Francisco to the east coast in New York City. He traveled across the Atlantic to perform in Russia and over the Pacific to perform on a cruise ship in the Hawaiian Islands. He has done everything from studio singing to opera… from musical theatre to theme parks… He even once sang in a boy band (:p). He is also a song writer, and has performed his original music in various venues over the years.
Ken has received training from numerous coaches, getting the best from both the classical and popular world. After performing in theme parks during the summer months of high school, Ken decided to furthered his understanding of classical vocal techniques, so he accepted the Grace Moore scholar and started his collegiate career at the University of Tennessee. Four years later, he walked away from UT with a greater knowledge of the human voice as well as a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
After graduating and a years worth of performing, Ken decided he wanted to spend more of his time focusing on helping others develop their dreams and talents. It was then that he began seeking out and working personally with professional vocal coaches such as Brett Manning, Wendy Parr and David Stroud. Through observation and explanation, these coaches passed on some of the teaching techniques they used when working with their professional clients. The client list of just these three coaches includes artists such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Haley Williams (Paramore), Keith Urban, Fred Durst (Limp Bizket), Terry Elise (En Vogue), Matt Scannell (Vertical Horizon), Mark Kibble (RED), and more.
Now, Ken not only boasts a 5 octave range, but more importantly, he frequently helps his students expand their range by as much as an octave in their first lesson. Ken’s teaching style is calm, deliberate and encouraging. He builds the confidence and self image of his students just as carefully as he builds their vocal talent. Ken will tell you that he loves what he does and when you get the opportunity to see him in action… it shows.
Well, now comes a new phase in the journey…

Hi Ken,
I am wondering if you are still offering vocal coaching in the Memphis area? And, if not, could you recommend someone in the area? I am looking for someone to help with my daughter (14), and we live in Southaven, MS.
Nevermind…just saw the link.
